| Chengde is quite laidback compared to nearby Beijing-a nice night out in Chengde might consist of a lengthy dinner with drinks at an outdoor restaurant in the summer. Chengde is also a good place to pick up locally harvested hazelnuts and almonds, as well as mushrooms, nasturtium and wild medicinal herbs, many of which are fairly rare elsewhere. |
