Sakya Monastery

| Sakya Monastery is reputed as as the "Second Dunhuang", it is the first Sakyapa monastery of Tibetan Buddhism founded by its initiator Khon Konchog Gyalpo in 1073, from where Sakyapa rose and once ruled Tibet. Standing there now is the old Southern Monastery, an imposing Mongol-style structure. |
