Dear Lisa, We are very sad about the destruction in Sichuan and we send sympathy to you and all the Chinese people. To show our support for the victims, the PLA and the Chinese people in dealing with the disaster, we have donated some money to the Red Cross.
We also want to express our heartfel appreciation to what you have done for our trip.
Thank you for putting together a wonderful trip for us. Now after a week at home I want to try to give you feedback of our journey, as requried in your previous email.
IN GENERAL: The tour itinerary was well built up and the set up is logical. We saw a lot during the tour. Though we worried a little bit before we arrived at China, and some of our friends were cuirious of our trusting an unknown email adrress (this was what they described), eventually we found out that your team had finished a marvellous job.
HOTELS: The quality of the hotels were as good as you described, the locations differ from place to place, some were located in bussiness districts (in Shanghai), convenient to go shopping, some were at picturesquere surroundings (in Yangshuo), good places to read a book or write a postcard in the early morning.
Check in can be improved by some hotels, as a group you consider that the rooms and keys are ready upon arrival, so that the group can refresh immediately and not to wait for the distribution of the room keys and other administrative work. In my opinion this can be avoided by the local tour operator and it is also their duty to setlle this matter. In Guilin, Mr. Jeff Lai, our local tour guide did a great job, he got all hotel room keys before he went to the airport to meet us on arrival day, deliver the room keys to everyone and collect our passports on the coach when we were heading to the hotel, so we went directly to our rooms when we arrived the hotel, and Jeff helped the front desk staff to complete all check-in procedure! We had our passports again on our dinner table. What a good idea! Jeff was really a good boy, only he did this for us.
MEALS: The meals were often typical tourist meals, especially for lunch. For European tourist it is reasonable. Our tour guides also offer us some recommendations for local dishes for dinners, as you told me in our email contact before, dinners were on our own, better try some local foods. Jeff (in Guilin) and Linda (in Shanghai) helped us to reserve dinner tables.
LUGGAGE: it is better to check the number of luggage as well as the size prior to the tour in order to settle the transportation of it. Linda helped us for overweigh luggages in Shanghai Pudong Airport, we have bought too many souvenirs.
The tour package we took 20 days Beijing, Xian, Lhasa, Chongqing, Yichang, Shanghai, Suzhou, Guilin
