Dear Miss Lisa Su, We returned this weekend to Holland after an unforgettable holiday which we enjoyed very much also thanks to your good advise. We hope you received our small gift in good order. We are very impressed by the friendliness of the Chinese people, new constructions and spaciness, especially in Beijing, and the general neatness in the city streets.
Travel by train, as you advised, was great and comfortable.
In general we liked Beijing and Xi'an more than Shanghai where people are commercially more aggressive and somewhat less helpful; life is faster there apparently. On the other hand architecture in Sjanghai is impressive and an evening walk on the Bund is fantastic; also a ride with Maglev.
The tours we booked were sufficient and enjoyable to get an impression of the touristic values China has to offer. Thanks to your help the guide solved the problem of us getting lost in the Forbidden City – due to an mutual misunderstanding – in a neat way. The only negative experience was our trip to Hangzhou, where the guide was somewhat moody and less communicative – an excuse might be the extreme business of the May holiday and the long ride to and from Hangzhou.
Once again in general we had a fantastic trip and enjoyed our vacation 100%. A small tip/advice – English in hotels is not yet very advanced and need some improvement, especially with the Olympic Games coming. You can also say that our Chinese is not yet very good.
Miss Su, thanks again and hope to hear from you. Kind regards.
