Changchun Film City, built in 1985, located southeast of Changchun City 's urban area, is a famous film production center in the province of Jilin. The first film production base in China - the famous Changchun Film Studio, which was named as Dongbei Film Studio originally, is also located in Changchun.Established in 1945, Changchun Film Studio is regarded as the cradle of Chinese films. Changchun Film Studio is one of the largest film production bases in China.
Changchun Film City is full of activities during the annual Changchun Film Festival. Its unique film and TV culture is popular among the local and foreign tourists. This Film City is Changchun's version of the Universal Studio and it is made up of the New Film Technology Exhibition Zone, Ancient-style Architecture Zone, Ethnic Minority Scenic Zone, Amusement Zone, and Tourist Service Zone. Among the crowd's favorite picks are the Adventure Palace, Cyberspace and the dubbing hall whereby visitors can try out their talent in producing special sound effect used in movies.
Being the first film studio in New China, it enjoys the fame of "Chinese Hollywood". It is a productive film base, having produced more than 100 pieces ever since its establishment, including features, theatrical films, art films, dubbed films, science&educational films and TV series. Next door to the film studio is the Film City, which has the dual-function of both a photographing base and a tourist site featured by film arts. The Film City mainly consists of Film World, Film Palace, Cinerama, Ancient city towers, Beijing-style courtyard house, European street block and Ancient Castle.
The cinema city, mingling film art with science and technology and ancient architecture with modern building style, is a unique tourist spot that is well worth visiting. It is the core attraction of the film city, and has the largest indoor studios for dramas and MTVs in Asia. In addition Film World is also a first-class visitor attraction with sightseeing, dining and entertaining.
