Fuzhou's culture will be showcased to the world in the magazine Mindu Culture, officially introduced on August 7.
Mindu, which translates to Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian, is the only professional cultural medium in Fuzhou. Founded on May 17, it has already won accolades and public support and has contributed to the spiritual construction of Fuzhou city.
With support from the provincial and municipal government, Mindu Culture was approved for a CNQ number (the common periodical number of magazines published in mainland China). It will be distributed in more than 100 West Strait newsagents as well as in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas markets.
"Altogether Mindu Culture will have 12 columns concerning various aspects of Fuzhou culture, like historical sites, social customs, etc. And we will adjust the setting of the columns according to the content," said Yao Qingqun, editor in chief of Mindu Culture. "Famous scholars and professors are invited to write for the magazine, and we also welcome people to contribute to us."
Lu Meisong, curator of the Fujian Research Institute of Culture and History, said Mindu Culture should find a clear positioning and strengthen market promotion and communication with Taiwan.
"As a magazine that shows Fuzhou's cultural personality, Mindu Culture should do its best to enlarge the influence of Fuzhou culture, build itself as an important channel for others to know Fuzhou and promote the establishment of Fuzhou's new cultural brand," Lu suggested.
According to Xu Jie, chairman of the Fuzhou Culture Federation, Mindu Culture will embark on the publishing ideal of "reading Fuzhou's historical sights, writing culture with literary pens" and serve Fuzhou's cultural construction and communication.
