Located it Changjiang Lu, Yuzhong District, Eling was originally named Edingling (goose nape hill), for its narrow and steep shape resembling a nape of a goose. With its good location and beautiful natural scenery, it is one of the best places to have a birds-eye-view of the whole city.
Eling park was built in 1909, which was originally a private garden and was originally the home of lee Yaoting and his son, a rich businessman, also known as "courteous park", with special plant species and newly built tower(LiangJiang pavilion). In 1958, large-scale of restoration was carried out on the site of lee garden and the park was "Eling Park".
The park office used to be the Britain and Australia embassy during the anti-Japan war, the flat houses in the park used to be turkey embassy.
The Park has a good view of the city and the roiling Yangtze River. A great mural of the Yangtze River shows the pre-dam water levels and elevation marks signifying the displacement of the local population, as well as the land area that has been and will be covered when the dam is completed. Originally the river was 100 meters above sea level; it is now 150m and will be at 175m in 2009. It is a useful point of interest prior to a Yangtze River cruise.
